Question:
Reports have been conflicting regarding the criminal assassination of Bin Laden, whether in American or Pakistani statements. Some of these statements suggest that this operation took place with the knowledge and cooperation of the Pakistani regime, while others deny this entirely or partially...
We request a clarification of the view on this matter. If it was done through cooperation, does that mean the "zero hour" for the operation was determined in consultation with the regime in Pakistan? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
There are strong indicators that the operation was carried out with the knowledge and cooperation of the Pakistani regime, in terms of providing American agencies with the intelligence necessary to execute the operation...
Among these indicators are:
An extraordinary meeting was held between General Petraeus, commander of ISAF, and General Kayani at Chaklala Airbase on April 25, 2011. That same night, General Petraeus held a closed session via telephone with the White House, chaired by President Barack Obama. On the following day, Pakistan's highest military coordination body held a meeting attended by the head of Pakistani Intelligence (ISI), General Shuja Pasha, who is not a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The meeting had not been previously scheduled. Barack Obama alluded to the aforementioned telephone contact when he announced the killing of Osama bin Laden, stating: "And finally, last week, I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action, and authorized an operation to get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice." It was also announced that Osama bin Laden was residing in Bilal Town, which is located in a military zone adjacent to the Pakistan Military Academy, which is surrounded by military checkpoints.
The statement by Zardari, which was made in the context of denying participation in the operation, yet he admitted that joint cooperation is what facilitated the assassination. Zardari stated in the Washington Post: "Although the events of Sunday were not a joint operation, a decade of cooperation and partnership between the United States and Pakistan led to the elimination of Osama bin Laden as a continuing threat to the civilized world."
Obama's statement, which also attempted to distance the Pakistani regime from involvement in the assassination, yet Obama admitted that cooperation with Pakistan helped determine Bin Laden's location. Obama said: "It is important to note that our counterterrorism cooperation with Pakistan helped lead us to bin Laden and the compound where he was hiding."
Previous incidents regarding the arrest of several Al-Qaeda members, such as Abu Faraj al-Libbi, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, and Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani; they were arrested in similar areas, close to elite military installations or in secure perimeters, and were handed over to America...
Accordingly, the Pakistani regime is immersed up to its ears in the crime of the assassination. However, it is not necessarily the case that the "zero hour" set by America for the assassination was known to the Pakistani regime. Rather, the role of the Pakistani regime is that of a spy who provides the necessary information to kill the victim and hands it to his master to determine the zero hour, whether the master informs the spy of it or not; for the spy is of even less consequence to him than that!
Finally, we draw the attention of the people of Pakistan in general and the Pakistani army in particular, that the survival of this regime is the foundation of the disease and the root of the calamity in Pakistan. It will not stop at complicity in the assassination of Bin Laden (may Allah have mercy on him and grant him a place in His spacious gardens), but will continue to wade in the blood of Muslims... The Shari'ah obligation is to remove it and establish the Khilafah in its place, so that Islam and the Muslims are honored, and disbelief and the disbelievers are humiliated.
