Answer to Question

Seeking Nusrah, Granting Nusrah, and Allah’s Victory

To: Mohamed Ali Bouazizi

Question:

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuh,

May Allah grant you success and reward you.

There is the "Seeking of Nusrah" (support/victory), there is the "Response" or "Granting of Nusrah", and there is "Allah’s Victory." Is the response itself the victory? As mentioned in the Seerah (Prophetic Biography), as I recall: Ibn Hisham said that when Allah willed to grant victory to His servant, He led to him a group from the people of Medina. Does victory always accompany the upcoming nascent state—Allah willing—as it shifts the balance of power, unites the Ummah under the banner of La ilaha illa Allah Muhammad Rasulullah, and engages in wars if the West attacks us? Can victory take a physical, tangible form, as occurred at Badr with the angels and at the Trench (Al-Khandaq) with the wind, or is it in the form of aid, support, preparation, and casting terror into the hearts of the enemy?

Apologies for the branching nature of the question, and may Allah reward you with the best of rewards.

Answer:

Wa Alaikum Assalam Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuh,

  1. Victory (Nasr) takes multiple forms. The intellectual dominance of the Da’wah (Call) over other ideas is a form of victory; the people’s rallying around and supporting the Da’wah is a form of victory; the steadfastness of the Da’wah carriers is a form of victory... and so on.

  2. One form of victory is the response of the "People of Power and Protection" (Ahl al-Quwwah wal-Man’ah) by granting Nusrah to the Da’wah. However, victory in its complete sense is only achieved when this Nusrah is realized, and the Hizb (Party) reaches authority by establishing the State, implementing Islam, and carrying the Da’wah. Thus, victory in the context of the Da’wah, in its full sense, means the existence of the "Point of Departure" (Nuqtat al-Irtikaz), i.e., the establishment of the State. This is because, without the establishment of the State, Islam does not exist in the practical affairs of life. While other forms of victory contain goodness, they do not achieve the presence of Islam in the arena of life. Rather, the State must be established, and Islam must be practically implemented so that Islam exists in the arena of life and victory is achieved in its complete and comprehensive sense.

  3. We are certain that the upcoming second Rightly Guided Khilafah (Caliphate) will be established, will remain standing, and will lead the Ummah to victory and empowerment. This is because the evidences giving glad tidings of its establishment indicate that it will remain, become established, and rule with justice. For example:

  • Allah (swt) says:

"Allah has promised those who have believed among you and done righteous deeds that He will surely grant them succession [to authority] upon the earth just as He granted it to those before them and that He will surely establish for them [therein] their religion which He has preferred for them and that He will surely substitute for them, after their fear, security, [for] they worship Me, not associating anything with Me. But whoever disbelieves after that - then those are the defiantly disobedient." (Surah An-Nur [24]: 55)

Although this verse is general, it also applies to the upcoming Khilafah State, Allah willing. It is clear from the verse that empowerment and security will occur, which cannot happen without its stability and victory over its enemies.

  • It was narrated by Imam Ahmad and in the Musnad of Al-Tayalisi from the Hadith of Hudhayfah that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said:

"Prophethood will remain among you for as long as Allah wills it to remain, then He will lift it when He wills. Then there will be a Khilafah on the method of Prophethood, and it will remain for as long as Allah wills, then He will lift it when He wills. Then there will be a biting kingship, and it will remain for as long as Allah wills, then He will lift it when He wills. Then there will be a forced kingship, and it will remain for as long as Allah wills, then He will lift it when He wills. Then there will be a Khilafah on the method of Prophethood." Then he remained silent.

There is no meaning for the existence of the second Khilafah on the method of Prophethood if it does not remain firm and stable.

  • Muslim narrated in his Sahih from Abu Hurayrah (ra) that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said:

"The Hour will not be established until the Muslims fight the Jews, and the Muslims will kill them..."

In another narration, he (saw) said:

"The Jews will fight you, and you will be given power over them."

This means the uprooting of the Jewish state from its foundations, which most likely will only be achieved through the establishment, stability, and victory of the second Khilafah State.

  • Ahmad narrated in his Musnad and Al-Hakim (who authenticated it and Adh-Dhahabi agreed with him) from Abu Qabil who said: We were with Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As when he was asked: Which of the two cities will be opened first: Constantinople or Rome? The Messenger of Allah (saw) said:

"The city of Heraclius will be opened first, meaning Constantinople."

Constantinople has been opened, and Rome will be opened, Allah willing... This is conceivable with the establishment and stability of the second Khilafah State.

  • Ahmad narrated in his Musnad from Tamim al-Dari who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) say:

"This matter will certainly reach where the night and day have reached, and Allah will not leave a house of mud or fur except that He will cause this Deen to enter it, by the glory of the glorious or the humiliation of the humiliated; a glory by which Allah honors Islam and a humiliation by which Allah humbles Kufr (disbelief)..."

Al-Bayhaqi narrated similarly in Al-Sunan al-Kubra, as did Al-Hakim in Al-Mustadrak. This means the second Rightly Guided Khilafah will remain firm, stable, and expand to encompass the entire world.

  1. However, what is mentioned above does not mean that the Khilafah State will be victorious in every single battle it fights. It may lose a battle here or there, but victory will be its end result. That is, it may lose battles, but by Allah’s leave, it does not lose the war, just like the case of the first Islamic State. It lost some battles, but victory in the war was its ally until it ruled most of the ancient world.

  2. As for your inquiry: "Can victory take a physical, tangible form, as occurred at Badr with the angels and at the Trench with the wind, or is it in the form of aid, support, preparation, and casting terror into the hearts of the enemy?" All of this is possible, and the matter rests with Allah (swt). He is the Supporter of His believing servants with soldiers from Him.

"And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except He." (Surah Al-Muddathir [74]: 31)

However, the Shar’i rule obliges us to make the necessary preparations, due to His (swt) saying:

"And prepare against them whatever you are able of power and of steeds of war by which you may terrify the enemy of Allah and your enemy and others besides them whom you do not know [but] whom Allah knows. And whatever you spend in the cause of Allah will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be wronged." (Surah Al-Anfal [8]: 60)

I hope this is sufficient. Allah is the All-Knowing, All-Wise.
