Answer to a Question regarding the Election Results

Q1: Scarcely had the election results shown the victory of the Congress Party when the issue of the Italian nationality of the party's president, Sonia Gandhi, was raised, despite her having renounced that nationality and legally becoming an Indian citizen in a proper manner. Her former Italian nationality was raised so blatantly that the MPs of the Janata Party threatened to withdraw from the elected parliament in protest. This was followed by maneuvers that led to Sonia withdrawing her nomination for the premiership. Does this mean that America has started early in creating trouble for the Congress Party since the beginning of its term?

A1: Yes, this is correct. It is not easy for America to leave India to return as a political "kitchen" for British influence in the Indian subcontinent once again. Therefore, it is likely that American hands were behind raising the issue of Sonia's former nationality after her success in leading the Congress Party to victory in the elections.

To understand this clearly, we must look back a little. The Congress Party is known for its loyalty to the British, for it was nurtured under their care. Among its most active presidents in consolidating British policy and standing against American policy there was Nehru, followed by the Gandhi family (Indira Gandhi and her sons Sanjay and Rajiv). America was in conflict with them. It is likely that America had a role in the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, and this is confirmed by the fact that the person who replaced him as Prime Minister was (Narasimha Rao), who is from the moderate wing of the Congress Party known for appeasing America, especially since he appointed (Manmohan Singh) as Minister of Finance—a man known for encouraging American investment in India. This Finance Minister established economic relations with American capital, especially in the field of electronics. The fact that this Finance Minister is the one nominated for the chairmanship of the Council of Ministers instead of Sonia, and actually becoming Prime Minister, indicates that American pressure was behind it.

In any case, it is not easy for America to take over the Congress Party, as it is one of the pillars of the British. However, America will not leave India easily after having penetrated it for a period of eight years. It will use all possible means of carrot and stick to try to infiltrate the Congress Party, create trouble for it, or try to infiltrate the government coalition through the small parties allied with Congress, and so on, because the Congress Party does not hold a majority on its own. However, we do not think it will succeed due to the opposing British political cunning and the long-standing nature of the Congress Party. Rather, Britain and the Congress Party may resort to political flexibility towards America, as is the custom of British agents in the Middle East, or rather the custom of Britain itself in its policy towards America: showing flexibility outwardly while harassing her inwardly. Nevertheless, through the Congress Party, Britain will not miss any opportunity to destabilize American influence in the subcontinent, especially Pakistan, to try to share influence in the Indian subcontinent with America if it cannot restore British influence to what it was previously.
